Nerve Damage Chart Walkthrough
You will learn how to use the Nerve Damage Chart to assess and communicate the severity of nerve damage in patients' hands and feet, various stages of nerve damage, how to present the results to patients effectively, and set realistic expectations.
The Nerve Damage Chart has multiple applications:
- It can serve as a reference during Day 1 to identify the extent of the patient's nerve supply loss.
- It can also be utilized on Day 2 to provide a reference for reviewing the patient's nerve damage and help them understand its severity.
Whether you choose to use it on Day 1 or Day 2 depends on when you review the nerve damage with your patient, but it can be an effective tool for conveying the severity of nerve damage in the hands and feet.
During this training, we will explore the various stages of nerve damage on the scale, which includes normal, acute, moderate, severe, and permanent damage. The chart also includes visuals that you can use to help patients comprehend the information.
Additionally, we will provide examples of different scenarios and how to present the results to the patient. We will also discuss how to set realistic expectations and estimate the time required for improvements to occur.
